Meet the CLM Staff
This week we feature a staff member, and the rest will be
here soon!

Mick McCloskey, M.A., CACIII
- This photo was not actually taken in the 1800's, a better one will
arrive soon! Mick is the Men's Program Coordinator and Counselor.
He is no stranger to lifestyles of the poor and addicted.
- Last fall Mick celebrated four years of sobriety and is quick to note
that his relationship as employee for Denny Smith (Director), and most
importantly his relationship with Jesus the Christ have made this possible
for him. According to Mick the last 21 years of his life are full of
highs and lows, as he puts it. Mick was sober for 16 years from
alcohol and street drugs, but in 2001 after developing an anxiety
disorder, he began taking prescription medications. With a Master's
degree, a certificate as a licensed substance abuse counselor, a house, a
wonderful family and so many other things sobriety had brought him over 16
years, he found out the hard way that once one is an addict, one will
always be an addict.
Mick ended up on the streets of Santa Barbara, California. The
next he remembers he was at a low point in his life in the Intensive Care
Unit at Murphy Medical Center. He had just tried to take his own
life.
Mr. McCloskey found his way into the program at Christian Love as a
student, having no idea what God had in store for him. After
graduation and spending some time in recovery, Mick was eventually hired
to the leadership role he now fills at Christian Love. Over the
years he has touched the lives of hundreds of families and individuals
through the ministry. Many students have quckly come to appreciate
and respect Mick for his sincere efforts to assist recovering addicts in
any way possible. The rapport which he is able to acheive with each
student could not be, were he not subjected to so much anguish and pain
earlier in his life. Thank God for Mick, and thanks to Mick for
helping to carry out God's ultimate plan.
